You are visiting the website for one of the most modern vocational schools in the state of Sachsen-Anhalt, and indeed perhaps in the whole of Germany. Our school was opened for the first time on August 24, 2001. And this after merely two years of construction. We are located at the former site of the Roter Stern (Red Star) shoe factory in Burg, near Magdeburg. This factory was closed in 1992. This vocational school looks back, however, on a 97 year history.
The county of Jerichower Land established the school with the help of funds from the state of Sachsen-Anhalt, the federal government, and the European Union. With the inner and outer construction of this traditional building, a complex suited for the requirements of a modern and future-oriented education was created for our school.
Whether for foreign language instruction, expert knowledge, or general subjects, modern teaching materials and technical equipment are provided. Every educational path takes place in very well-equipped classrooms, labs, and workshops. Internet access and a school network is the standard here, to which every student has access. Work stations with CNC compatibility are available for metal, wood, and construction programs, as labs are available for the electricians and the IT specialists, practice shops with video cameras and practice offices are available for the salespeople and office help. There is likewise a beauty salon, a sewing room with sewing machines, complete kitchens, a mock restaurant with its own kitchen, as well as a laboratory for chemistry and physics. Foreign language labs with multimedia equipment and a conference room which provides an individual atmosphere round out the picture of our school.
An indoor sports complex with three different fields and enough seats for 700 spectators belongs to 'Conrad Tack,' as well as an outdoor field for various sports.
Still in the works is a cafeteria. This should be used as a multicultural center. Whether it is used for breaks, cultural
workshops, student get-togethers, meetings, feedback from project weeks, or exhibitions, it is a necessary and at the same time a challenging project. We hope that the Grand Opening will take place in late spring.
300 parking spots are provided for our teachers, students, trainees, and guests free of charge.
I believe that with this environment and the very high quality of the teaching staff, we have fulfilled all the imaginable requirements that young people need in order to establish their basic and specialized education.
